We are often asked when is the best time to start treatment. Having teeth is one requirement for braces, but the ideal time is different for everyone. Although most people experience orthodontic treatment after all of the their permanent teeth come in, occasionally early intervention is necessary. Dr. Swapp can minimize how long you have braces, by starting at the ideal time.
Juniors
Your mind is probably buzzing with questions about your child’s orthodontic needs: Will those spaces close? At what age should my son be losing his baby teeth? In which order should they come out? Is my little princess’s mouth growing like it should? Will my little guy even need braces?
Don't sweat it.
Most kids don't need braces until all of their adult teeth come in, but there are some exceptions. That's why the American Association of Orthodontists recommends children be seen by an orthodontist at age 7. Schedule an appointment, and we can discuss the best time for your child to start treatment. Regardless of whether treatment is started, Dr. Swapp will continue to monitor your child's growth and development to ensure we don't miss anything along the way.
Teens
Most teenagers have all of their permanent teeth between ages 11-13. In most cases this is an excellent time to begin orthodontic treatment. We have metal and clear braces, in addition to Invisalign Teen. We know that raising a teenager gives you plenty to worry about: grades, friends, hygiene, etc. Mom, Dad…we get it. At Swapp Orthodontics, we want you to leave their smile to us. It’s an important part of who they are and how they are viewed, and we’ve got you covered.
Adults
Whether you're a busy parent, working professional, retiree, or freeloader living in your parent's basement :), it's about time you did something for YOU. An attractive smile, straight teeth, and a comfortable bite is a great place to start. After your initial exam, Dr. Swapp will discuss which treatment option is best. Dr. Swapp had braces as an adult himself, and he's very aware of the benefits and challenges that come with treatment after the teenage years. Especially with regard to esthetics, comfort, and time. Invisalign has recently made significant improvements in their technology, making this an attractive option for many adults.
